Ich will! Ich will! Ich will! (I want! I want! I want!)

after Saul Bellows “Henderson the rain king”

“I want! I want! I want!” is an adaptation of the novel “Henderson The Rain King” by the American Nobel Prize winner Saul Bellow. It describes the absurd adventure of an eternally dissatisfied American millionaire in Africa. Looking for meaning in his life and escaping from an inner voice that constantly screams “I want!” I want! I want!” he becomes the rain king of a tribe living there in a remote steppe. The journey is a fantasized fever dream, Henderson is an existentialist hero, a modern Don Quixote, a Fitzcaraldo in the rainforest, a Hemmingway on Kilimanjaro, a Schlingensief in Namibia. An energetic monologue in the backdrop of an empty workshop – accompanied by two musicians, ten dancers and much more.
